While E-104 was on there way to get fuel a passer-by stopped at Rt. 25 and Rt. 111 intersection stating there was a car on fire up the road. Crews responded to the scene of the fire which was about 1 mile into the Town of Trumbull. E-104 first on scene found a fully involved van fire which was loaded with vinyl siding waterproofing materials and other construction products. Crews went to work making a quick knock on the van. After about 5 minutes on scene Long Hill arrived and performed overhaul of the vehicle. Thank you to Long Hill for letting us come to your town and do your dirty work.
Today the Stepney Volunteers sent an engine crew to cover the Botsford Fire Company in the town of Newtown while they were at their annual Labor Day parade. E-101 and its crew covered them from 0900hrs to 1200hrs.
At 0023hrs the Stepney Volunteers were dispatched to in front of 300 Main Street for a MVA with fluid leading into the reservoir. Upon arrival R-120 found 1 vehicle upright in the reservoir with minor fluids leaking. Units also found that a telephone pole was completely snapped into 3 pieces and another pole was snapped at the bottom. While investigating further it was apparent the car rolled several times and came to a halt in the water.
