Stepney Fire along with Stevenson Fire was called out to assist Monroe Fire with a structure fire on Elm Street at 709pm. A passing motorist spotted heavy smoke coming from the residence and called 911. Arriving Monroe units found heavy flames coming from the living room windows. Elm Street Command called Dispatch requesting Structure Fire Protocol.Stepney responded with Engines 101 and 104 Truck 100 Rescue 120 Chief 151 and thirteen firefighters. Stevenson sent an engine a rescue and a chief. Monroe responded with two engines their quint and two chiefs. Monroe EMS also responded with a unit. In addition to in-town units Shelton Fire responded for RIT and Monroe firehouse coverage Trumbull Center was dispatched to cover Stepney Station 1 and Oxfords Engine 51 and Car 1 stood by at Stevensons firehouse.No one was home at the time of the fire. The familys dog was rescued two cats did not make it. The main body of the fire was knocked down by 1938 hours and Command was terminated at 2155 hours.
