Stepney Fire was called out to a two-vehicle MVA on Main StreetRoute 25 just north of Northbrook Condominiums. Members responded with Engine 102 Rescue 120 and Truck 100. Monroe and Stevenson fire units also responded along with Monroe EMS. Firefighters found a Chevrolet Malibu traveling southbound had crossed the center line and crashed into a tanker truck carrying home heating oil. The collision caused Route 25 to be closed in both directions. There is no timeframe for reopening that portion of the Road First Selectman Steve Vavrek said at 1015 am. Thank you for your patience.Although there was no leakage of home heating fuel from the tanker-trailer the heating oil had to be transferred from the tanker involved in the accident to a second tanker-trailer. The last of the fire units cleared the scene around 145. Route 25 was reopened around 6pm.
